Shinkalion Change the World Ep 35: Fabricated Justice
After Chaos, there was order. Reiji and Tender were defeated by Morito and Taisei, as well as the combined effort of everyone. It seems that with this victory, the fight against the Unknowns are over…as Tender revealed the truth about their origin. And that may means that ERDA and by extension, the Shinkalions, are no longer needed. But is that truly the end? And what has caused Tender to do so?

Of course, the answer was Tender. He was the one that scoured the Metaverse for abandoned data – remade them into the Unknowns, and set them loose to manufacture a danger to the world, which would necessitated the Shinkalion’s creation. Professor Chikugo eventually figured this out and confronted Tender. And he just replied that it’s all to make his wish came true…and it did, didn’t it? – asked Tender. Professor Chikugo was horrified, that it was his creation, and his dream that led to this situation. Especially after Ryota was almost crushed by the Unknown. They are posing actual threats to society – and possibly causing loss of human life. It’s one of those situation where the creation has grown out of control of the creator. That’s why before, when Reiji met Prof. Chikugo, he was visibly shaken and his voice was cracking. He knew that it was because of him that the Unknowns start appearing, but it’s also due to that that ERDA was formed and was kept operational. And he couldn’t bring himself to terminate Tender, so he was at a loss.
Not long after, Prof Chikugo ran into the Capture Field to save another child, and the incident caused him his life. Maybe he intentionally ended his life to show Tender that his action was wrong, and that his dream has now crushed his life. But even so, Tender didn’t stop, because he wanted to keep ERDA running, and Reiji is a perfect candidate to help him. I doubt that Tender wanted to trap him in there and push him into despair like that, but still he was there, and giving him a purpose might be good to keep Reiji going and not fade away. After hearing everything from Tender, Reiji completely abandoned his plan to take revenge on ERDA, and his consciousness found a way back into his comatose body, which is definitely a miracle. Tender, however, vanished.

Back to real life, everyone was celebrating Christmas in the Metaverse, Taisei and every Drivers as well as Mai. It’s pretty insane to think you can eat and drink in the Metaverse. If there’s a sense of taste in there, it would be pretty groundbreaking technology. And it’s good to see some celebration and positivity after all the depression from recent episodes. With Tender gone, the Unknowns are unlikely to attack any time soon, so they can breathe a sigh of relief and enjoy the holidays.
Well, everyone but Ina it seems. She staggered into Reiji’s room – now awake (which is also pretty insane ngl) – drunk as hell and started laying onto him all the blame, the guilt, the pain and the relief she has been holding back for so many years. Her blushed face from the alcohol and her facial expression really made her looks like she’s confessing to him lol. I even thought she would just jump in for a kiss even. It was the first time in more than 7 years that the two was able to talk face-to-face, in the flesh. Ina couldn’t face him seriously, so she decided to borrow the power of alcohol. Reiji just woke up and he’s definitely a bit disoriented, but he’s holding his own very well. I wonder if they let him take a bath and brush his teeth etc…cause 7 years without those is gonna be really, really bad when you’re with a girl lol.
Nevertheless, Kacchan came in a bit later, and found Ina sleeping soundly on the bed…next to Reiji (lol they didn’t). And student and teacher reunited again and resolved their feelings. Kacchan still felt that he betrayed Reiji, let him down and didn’t find him in time…but Reiji should have learned the fact that ERDA was trying their best to find him, and it was the Commander that was hiding the data and tried to erase him, so he wasn’t betrayed by ERDA, or at least, his loved ones after all. The road to mending relationships and others will be long and hard for Reiji, but the important thing is he’s back. I wonder how will his family react when their son suddenly came back to life and look much older now.

Well…we’ve solved Reiji’s issue as well as the Unknowns. Will this be the end of CTW? What about the world has “changed”? I guess the one who actually changed the world was Tender? by introducing a giant threat and facilitated a giant solution. But maybe this isn’t the end…as Vina was seen contemplating something at the end…and the fact that Taisei’s physical body still hasn’t woken up yet, and Ido’s still gone. We also don’t know if all the data that Tender kept is actually gone or not.
Nevertheless, a major arc of the series has closed. And it will be a very hard challenge to come up with a continuation that live up to the hype. But there are are several ways they can drive the story forward (pun intended), by incorporating Reiji into the story. But we’ll see how the series will turn out.
