Red Sentai Isekai Ep 7: Journey Through The Desert

From the extreme wet and cold to the insanely hot and dry, the party journeyed to the Sun forest in the middle of the desert. There, they encountered the elves – who used to be friendly with human – but now they are at war. And among the elves, there exist a warrior that can transform just like Red – that will make one go “Onore, Dikeidoooo!!”

After last episode, Yidhra accepted Shauha’s request to investigate the mana seed in the Sun Forest. Upon arriving, Yidhra was immediately snatched by an afro dude looking suspiciously like Bobobo-bo Bo-bobo, while Lowji and Teltina was assaulted by elven archers. We get to see the fruitful “Bansou” Research of Yidhra and Red the other night – where Yidhra can summon Red to her side immediately no matter where. That’s some insane couple gimmick lol, and Red’s posture when he was summoned remind me of a certain Emissary from Hell.

But the highlight this episode is definitely Lowji’s battle. Even though he easily dispatched the archers, he has to come face-to-face with their strongest warrior – Amun. Well, people have been asking for another henshin hero – and the people’s wish shall be fulfilled.
“Sphi – Sphi – Sphix!”
Now that voice sounds extremely familiar. Fans of Kamen Rider definitely have heard that voice at least once. The “magenta” passerby Kamen Rider’s device voice – Mark Okita – is no doubt one of the most iconic in the franchise. And hearing him again in this episode is certainly a great fan-service. They really went all-out with the Tokusatsu energy in this series, and I love it. Furthermore, they even got Toshiki Inoue to direct this episode, so you know the Kamen Rider action will be through the roof.

Amun’s device voice is Mark Okita, but her (yes, her) motif is Kamen Rider OOO and basically Egyptian history. We got the animal-themed medals like Falcon, Jackal and Scarab, as well as Pharaoh. I really like the design of Amun and her gimmick. The form-switching style is definitely a Kamen Rider’s staple that give the series more flavor as well. The action is actually quite better this episode since it’s not just one-punch anymore but much more dynamic since it is Amun’s debut episode. Even Lowji with his Holy Sword cannot defeat her. And I like that we get to see the “dark” form of the Holy Sword. I thought Light and Dark was supposed to be stronger than other elements, but I guess it’s pretty much equivalent which is okay. I really like the fact that he can use Dragwrath to fly with the booster on the back, which is very similar to the Grungust’s sword.

The fight has been very cool. And the way it was stopped was pretty hilarious. Red just used the Kizuna Kaiser to stop two human-sized superhuman, and because Kamen Riders aren’t used to giant robots – well, not the Sentai-sized ones anyway. So Amun is pretty freaked out. And she get even more freaked out when she and the other elves see Red as well, instantly regarding him as the prophesized saviour.

Then we come to the resolve the misunderstanding part, and everyone got acquainted. It’s kinda funny to see Amun – Ranya – to be such an easy-to-embarrassed girl, completely different from when she confronted Lowji and Teltina. She’s pretty straightforward and simple-minded, and also is a dark-skinned elf – so the entire package in one.

But what’s more interesting is the prophecy of the elven clan – with a giant mural of Red’s depiction. And from Ranya’s words and Red’s reaction, we can pretty much deduce who left that prophecy in the first place. Which is pretty wild since the prophecy was made 1000 years ago – so some blimey-wimey timey stuff happened to send her all the way back to the past of this world. Even so, she knew that one day, Red would come to this world and become the hero they need. It’s really crazy that she can see 1000 years ahead. But nevertheless, it’s time for the Kamen Rider and the Super Senshi to face another mana seed abusers.
