Ringing Fate Ep 5 Review: Hunting For Love
Ringing Fate gets into a new arc featuring the next set of new characters, namely Hayate and Ayako – the Wiuxia Fighter and Eden’s new love interest. This episode will explore more about Eden’s background, about how he has been living in this world and his relationship with Tim. And we also get a really good eye-candy action sequence, just in time for Monster Hunter Wilds.

After the previous episode Eden is lovestruck with Ayako – the mysterious girl that helped him escape. And he will do everything he can to get her attention and confess to her. Well, from previous impressions, we thought that Eden was kinda a playboy, so it really surprised me that he hasn’t really got a few girls around him. And it’s kind of goofy how he kind of like just latch onto Ayako like a puppy. But still Ayako seems to have quite a past of her own, searching for a person who she lost contact with. Obviously this love is going to be pretty challenging and I don’t really know if he will succeed but for the moment, it’s funny to see that he’s trying his best, even challenging her to Ringing Fate fight. Which is kind of a big problem because we have never seen him fight nor we have seen him possessing any kind of mech suit.
And from that we can see Tim and Eden past together. Tim seems like a pretty interesting guy even though he is very reserved, for a lack of better words. He does have a facade of speaking very lightly and doesn’t really seems to care much about anything, but when things really come down to it, he can be a very caring person and very kindhearted, as shown when he rescued Eden as well as caring for Kaname. The fact that Eden arrived at Quon with nothing and no place to live, no direction, no people that he know and basically is just a wandering homeless guy. But still keeping his head held high is quite commendable. It’s either that he doesn’t want to try too hard, or he is just running away from something we don’t know about. But at the very least it seems that he has a very good sense of Mecha aesthetic, and we all need a guy like that in any mecha series.

Ayako and Tim then team up to go to hunt for a Blind Box – No not the Babythree kind, but a mecha blind box that may contain S-class equipment or even something like Saburo. Of course Kaname and Eden also sneak up on their own and arrive at the same location, and the two parties ran into each other Rom-Com style. Like how to couples exchange partners to go on a practice date and in the middle of things, they just happen to run into each other. Well, all the hilarity aside they were then attacked by a Kirin, a mythical monster straight out of Monster Hunter. While Ayako brought her mech suit, it is clear that they are not equipped to fight such a high level entity. But of course a hero always arrive fashionably late.
Hayate appeared out of nowhere charged in like a swift wind. Dude is basically using Gundam Exia on Trans-Am To dash around left and right. The fight is really fast paced and the Kirin also has The Flash type of movement where it just like blurred into a run, instead of moving its separate limbs. The only thing that I really want more out of this episode is maybe a longer fight, and seeing them work with each other, or at least a little bit more of Hayate because that dude is freaking insane. He’s going to be either Kaname’s greatest teacher or her greatest obstacle, only time will tell.

In the end, Eden was able to save the Blind box. But when Ayako asked for it he declined like a true gigolo. I think he is serious in taking part in the tournament to prove himself to be capable to Ayako. I don’t know how that is going to go because he literally have zero fighting experience and he doesn’t seem to have any other goals aside from impressing the girl he likes which is understandable. I like that we are getting more exposition on all the characters especially Tim because I think he is a really cool guy, and having another girl for Kaname to relate to is good as well. The action in the series has been super satisfying and I hope they continue with this style in the future. But maybe make it a little bit longer next time because we’re all dying for some great actions that we are severely lacking this season. Looking forward to see more of Hayate.
