Red Sentai Isekai Ep 6 Review: “Bansou Gattai”

After arriving at Avallost City, the team take an episode to unwind and focus on some character development. Especially for red and Yidhra, who will be doing a lot of learning about each other in this episode. We also get to meet the King as well as the Royal Sibling of Princess Teltina, And learn that they are all greedy idiots. We’re at the midway point of the season, and it is a good time to take some time to refocus the plot.

Firstly, we get some more exposition about the position of Royal Scepter as well as the reason why the previous one – Yidhra’s father – was replaced. We learned that her father was advocating for using magic tools to assist in the lives of normal people. It sounds like a noble dream, however, we also learned that there are many safety issues that came with that idea and various magic related accidents has happened and hurt people. That is why the current magic system requires people to have a license to practice magic and employ magic tools. This put a huge restrictions on who can use them in daily life activities and Yidhra is trying to change that. however Shauha is very adamant about not letting the rein loose, essentially wanting to monopolize the magic system. In a sense this is like a license to drive or ride cars and motorbikes. It is very convenient and everyone should be allowed to, however users must have basic safety trainings as well as a license to be on the road. Both sides of the argument have their merits but they are taken to their respective extremes – and therefore creating a conflict.

This is where Red showcase his critical thinking skills, as well as providing a fresh perspective from an Isekai character’s point of view. He saw merits on both sides of their arguments and proposed that if they work together they should be able to come up with a satisfactory system that benefits everyone. However just like your typical rom com series, Yidhra misheard and basically when he said Shauha has a point, she basically blanked out and thought that Red doesn’t agree with her anymore now that Shauha has shown up as a more powerful mage. Just like a kid throwing a tantrum, she ran away from the tower, prompting Red to chase her, resulting in one of the most hilarious lover’s quarrels in the history of Tokusatsu. It’s kinda funny that she values Red’s words so much that when the first thing that came out his mouth is disagreement, she just shut down entirely. But yes without that misunderstanding, we wouldn’t have one of the most hilarious scenes of the series.

After successfully chasing her, Red brought her back to the castle and the two had to warm themselves up. Yidhra went to take a bath and when she was inspecting the Mana Crystals, she mistakenly summon Red to the bathroom. On the contrary to other female characters that we’ve seen, she doesn’t seem to have a sense of embarrassment – at least not as strong as her curiosity. She was so absorbed in learning about this Bond Energy that she completely forgot that she is showing a lot of assets to a very healthy young man. Tokusatsu hasn’t really focused on fanservice before, especially not Super Sentai despite all the female actors are gravure idols. But Yidhra from the start has been a giant walking fan-service character, and she is all on the attack in this episode making Red very frustrated.

And of course the next morning, we know that they have done a lot of *Bansou Gattai*, even the pure princess Teltina can see that they have *Bansou Gattai*, even though they deny that they haven’t *Bansou Gattai*, we definitely know that they have and will *Bansou Gattai*. Well, that’s where the hilarious and comedy ended for this episode and what ensues is a more serious matter.

we get to see the king of the kingdoms which is tartina’s father along with her brother. her father is a typical senile anime old man that basically doesn’t have any decision making skills of his own, getting swayed by others easily. The oldest brother is basically Gundam’s Gihren. His type is the power-hungry type that wants to exert dominance over the land without caring about the safety of other people. He’s willing to use the Mana Seed to empower his military despite all the side effects it can bring, as well as blatantly ignoring the fact that it came from the Demon and it might be the key to revive Demon Queen. He’s the type of guy who will sacrifice an entire Colony to defeat the Federa… I mean sacrifices his countrymen to win more territory. He also resort to personal attack when he basically bring up Teltina’s other brother who have passed away and from his tone we can deduce that his late brother is a nice person and he is not as aggressive as Dariel and actually cared about the Teltina.

Either way the plan going forward is to let Princess Teltina continue her journey with Red and Yidhra, and Yidhra also came up with a plan to collaborate with Shauha to create a safety system for the Magic tools that will help everyone. However Shauha is still very skeptical and doesn’t accept it as easily, of course she has a quest for the team that if they completed it she might be able to do something about her suggestion. I kinda like Shauha personality even though she’s not very likeable in the traditional sense. She’s one of those characters who is good at heart but is very brass on the outside and isn’t shy from using a little bit of “personal motivation” words that may really irritate someone, however she has the talent and the strength to back up her words. Anyway on the next episode it seems we are reaching the desert episode where we will be encountering the Kamen Rider character of the series that we saw in the ending.
