Code Geass: Roze of the Recapture ep 6 Review: Truth of the Past

The Seven Shining Stars successfully stopped Damocles and minimized casualties as much as possible by a miracle of cooperation. Focusing on this episode, we find out more about Ash’s true past that was hinted at before, Christoph learned about the Resistance group with someone has Geass ability and of course, there was more fan service than other episodes in this one.

So we say goodbye to Nina in this episode. After 7 years of finally wishing for a world without F.L.E.I.J.A. – the deadly weapon of destruction she created – has completely disappeared, perhaps Nina’s journey can finally come to a complete end in this episode (unless Sunrise gonna make her continue cameo for some project for the next spin-offs). On the Einberg side, Walther – the remaining man of the group has been introduced. Dakkan no Roze has gone halfway of the story but honestly the villains lack screentime and development. Half of the villains are dead, Norland is the main villain so there will definitely be some plot left for his character to develop, as well as Narah having a connection with Ash, the rest we have Catherine is a fangirl, Stanley is a mad scientist, Christoph is a psychopath and finally Walther – who is introduced in this episode. We know that the Luxembourg and Lindstedt families are attendants of Princess Sherry. Will Walther, even though he knows the true identity of the person he is guarding is Sakura, turn against Norland and become the second Jeremiah Gottwald? Although their personalities are somewhat opposite, I hope the plot will develop in the direction that his role will be similar to Jeremiah.

The story reveals a little more about Ash’s past and the death of Jugo Sumeragi. We are known that Jugo is a friendly, fair person, loved and respected by those around him. That’s why he made Princess Sherry feel interested and the two got married, We finally see what Sakuya’s mother looks like. We also learn that Ash was not the one who directly killed Jugo and there may be more behind it as well as he and his real brother were adopted by Norland and it’s highly likely related to what happened when Ash was a kid in the after credits, maybe Norland did something to manipulate (maybe Geass) Ash so that he killed everyone in the mansion and had soulless eyes until he met Jugo like in the trailer.

This episode was truly filled with fan-service for the viewers, from Sakuya lying on the bed to Sakura in the bathroom in the last minutes of the episode. Maybe it’s just me but besides that I feel like Yoko’s breasts are getting bigger and bigger to the point of spilling out. I always knew she had big breasts and was proud of them but it seems like they’re getting bigger with each episode right? Besides that, the artists drew very detailed from 9:27 to 9:40, you guys definitely know what I’m talking about, honestly I really didn’t expect this but maybe not only Geass and KMF in this series are just for show but also the filmmakers wanted to show us that they are very serious and focus on making other details in the series. Another scene that I feel is equally valuable is the scene where Narah talks to Ash while driving through the tunnel, with her red hair and the tunnel light making her eyes glow yellow like when she glances at Ash at 15:31, it’s really beautiful in a ghostly way.

In conclusion, after knowing all this, will Sakuya still want to kill Ash or will she continue to search for the truth about her father’s death? I hope Sakuya will change her mind about Ash because after all, a man who picks up stray cats and dogs to raise cannot be a bad person. Beside that, the Einberg also has a new character (which is another psycopath) this could be their trump card to deal with Sakuya’s Geass. Let’s see what this character can do or will it have a lame ending like Einberg’s deceased characters .
