Shinkalion Change the World Ep 16 Review: The No-Getter

With 2 powerful addition to the team: an amazing engineer and a reliable senpai, the Shinkalion team is stronger than ever before. However, it is not clear skies for our boys yet, especially Akane. As some of his issues with track & field manifested itself in his piloting. And a new powerful enemy doesn’t help his situation either.

As we saw from previous episode, Akane has been joining the track & field club as an advisor. Being from a family of famed athletes, Akane has got the skills to back it up, and if not for his injuries, he’d be competing in nationals and even beyond. Because of that, he partly resent his brother for getting all the spotlight and attention to himself, but Akane has resolved that issue in the starting episodes where he realized his family still treasure him and respect his decisions. Now as an advisor for the club, Akane once again found himself in the spotlight, with many students looking up to him. Akane has found himself elated by this experience.

I can understand what he is feeling. He was supposed to be at an even higher level, but reality is tough. Even so, once must make the best of one’s situation, and Akane is trying to do just that. While it may just be local scale, and part-time, he still feels like he is contributing, and his skills are being recognized. And that attention is attention nonetheless. Being idolized feels good.

However, Akane still has his duty as a Shinkalion Driver. And with newer and powerful enemies showing up, they needs to level up their game as well. With Ina inventing a brand new system (the gal’s brain is scary indeed!), it is a chance for the main trio to combine their power – literally. The Trinity gattai system which is similar to the original Trinity’s Shinkalion (and Kamen Rider Zio Trinity too!) looks pretty sweet from the promo pics. But we won’t be getting it anytime soon…due to Akane.

Yes, Akane – the one pilot of the main trio that noone expects to “screw up”. Since Akane is level-headed, calm and has great skills. Meanwhile Taisei and Ryota have been having much more serious problems with their psyche from history. Akane being the reason shocked everyone, including Akane himself. Since he was feeling quite fulfilled, there’s no reason for his compatibility to be lower than Taisei and Ryota. But well, the enemy doesn’t wait for them to sort the issue out.

And finally we got the debut of the Hades Shinkalion – albeit he hasn’t combined with his pet yet, but just like any debut, he easily make short work of our drivers. The red and blue flame remind me of the Agni and Rudra from Devil May Cry and the concept of an ice blade and fire blade combo is always super badass for me. The Hades debut is very nice as well. Ina looks visibly shock which is understandable. I wonder if the Masked Man will say anything to our driver or just show his power then leave.
