To Be Hero X Ep 16 Review: Vindication of Silence

And when I thought last episode was already kinda cringe, this episode took it to another level with an insane amount of misunderstanding. Still Ghostblade became a much better character after this episode, mostly because he was finally vindicated of all the misunderstanding, and he showed us that he’s just a misunderstood father trying to navigate the team that the god of rom-coms have created.

Right off the bat, Ghostblade was driving with the Johnnies in tow, which basically is hell for him since Lil’ Johnny is a certified yapper and he just keeps going on and on. Ghostblade couldn’t stand it anymore and opened the window and turned on some music. Unfortunately, everyone is a fan of Lucky Cyan so Lil Johnny latched on that even harder, basically tormenting him all along the drive. I also got a younger brother who loves listen to Taylor Swift whenever I drive him around, so I kinda understand the sentiment.

But…his release would soon come – when an armored Luo Li dropped down from the sky and struck the car, almost causing him to go off the cliff. His jeep is pretty durable, cause if it’s a normal car and normal driver, they’d be dead. That’s some insane driving and they actually put quite a bit of effort into making the car crash.

Afterwards, we got an insanely awkward talk between all the parties – Nuonuo, Luo Li, Luo Li’s dad, Lil Johnny and Ghostblade. The truth basically came out that Ghostblade was indeed the man who followed Nuonuo all this time. Nuonuo was embarrassed and scared, Luo Li and Lil Johnny was drawing up all kinds of assumptions about my man, and worst of all, Luo Li’s father even thought Ghostblade love her: someone who is much, much younger than Ghostblade. The amount of misunderstanding is insane, and the fact that Ghostblade couldn’t talk was even funnier. Also, he wasn’t intending on revealing the truth through, idk, a note or a text message to anyone else. Bro just took it like a shounen mc – shouldering all the misunderstandings in the world.

Afterwards is just a cringe fest. Luo Li’s father tried to make Ghostblade looks good in front of Nuo Nuo, and even nudged him to confess to his own daughter. Ghostblade was absolutely freaked out but in true romcom series fashion – agreed with him about loving Nuo Nuo the most in the world. In that kind of situation, do NOT admit your true feelings because it will get misconstrued. And yes it did, the dinner was awkward as hell and I feel physically cringed-out from all of it.

But alas, the Fear version of DJ Shindig arrives and caused trouble for the team. We also get a closer look (and sound) of the mysterious dude researching fear behind the scene. That voice and intonation is no-doubt Shinichiro Miki! So it’s the reporter guy doing this bs. I knew he was shady as hell, but I didn’t expect him to be behind this thing. It seems he is intent on tearing down the current Trust Value system no matter what. Since Queen failed, he chose to go at it another way…which is much more dangerous…to everyone else but Ghostblade.

Truly the top 5 hero of the Hero Association, Ghostblade show us his true power with the silent blade. With just a dinner knife, he was able to chop DJ Shindig into pieces easily and stylishly. Well, the fast slash is kinda a cheap-out, but it is still very cool. It’s like a manual single Judgement Cut from Vergil. And I guess he IS the deadbeat dad in this story. Ghostblade and Vergil can probably study a parenting class together.

Nevertheless, the fight was very cool, however, a Fear particle slipped into him, which might be activated in the next episode to give him some form of nervous breakdown. But with Nuo Nuo finally learning the truth, she might be able to support him in the battle with Big Johnny – who obviously had come into contact with a large portion of Fear particles.
