Mecha Character Profile: Elpoe Ple – Gundam ZZ
A young girl with powerful Newtype abilities, although trained and assigned to fight a terrible war, her playful and childish nature did not take that as serious as her own joy. However, behind that joyful aura – her greatest and darkest secret lies beneath – the name was Elpeo Ple.
I. Background:
– Born in 8th March in the Universal Century of U.C. 0077 and raised in the Axis, Elpeo Ple was trained to fight as a mobile suit pilot along with her powerful Newtype abilities which she did not know at first. Due to her nature of being childish and innocent since she was only 10 years old at the time the First Neo Zeon War erupted in U.C. 0088 she did not take things seriously as other adults most of the time such as her supervisor – Glemy Toto but when it comes to fighting, she actually devoted herself to protect the people she cares.
During her first appearance, she encountered Judau Ashta – the protagonist from the Argama carrier ship when he was secretly infiltrating the Axis which is where she lived. She was being playful with him most of the time and with her passionate interest towards Judau, during the descent mission to Earth, she then agreed to join him and the Argama, leaving Toto away. Although treated as a prisoner of war inside the Argama – Ple actively supports Judau most of the time with the Quebeley Mk-II as her main mobile suit. She also showed a very strong sense of jealousy when Judau finally reunited with her sister – Leina Ashta, proving her feelings towards Judau, referred to him as “big brother” .
Af the war rages on in Europe, during a fight against the Neo Zeon’s “Sandra” cruiser in Dublin, Judau in his ZZ Gundam encountered the gigantic all-new Psycho Gundam Mk-II which was attacking the Argama forcing Ple’s Qubeley Mk-II that was still partially dismantled to go out and defend it in which at the end, Ple made a sacrifice blocking herself against its attack and exploded her Qubeley at it, at that moment it is also revealed that the Psycho Gundam Mk.II’s pilot was not anyone but her other self – Ple-Two which was a clone of Elpeo Ple that she already knew by then, confusing Judau. Her ghost appeared again to support Judau while fighting Haman Karn’s Qubeley to the death.

II. Skills & Abilities:
– Elpeo Ple is still young and innocent, at the time of the First Neo Zeon War she was only 10-11 years old and because of that she is quite temperamental at times and her childish behavior can be somewhat a headache for the Argama crew when she defected to them. Her love interest was Judau Ashta – the person that convinced her to follow him back to the Argama along with her Qubeley Mk-II.
– Although young, she is also a very powerful Newtype and quite a pilot. Her power was supervised by the Axis’s Glemy Toto most of the time and trained her to become a skillful mobile suit pilot. Her mobile suit was the new Qubeley Mk-II which was the Newtype-only mobile suit, incorporating her power to its funnel weapons. Her famous catch phrase was her own name – Ple or Puru if read in a Japanese accent.
