Mecha Character Profile: Aina Sahalin – Mobile Suit Gundam: The 08th MS Team
Even the noblest family of the rich cannot escape from the devastating One Year War in the Universal Century Gundam series. Aina Sahalin, a young beauty from a noble Zeon family led by her brother’s will, joined the battlefield but instead of fighting alone, she found herself in love with her own enemy – Shiro Amada from Earth Federation.
I. Background:
– Born in the noble Sahalin family around the Universal Century of U.C. 0059, Aina joined the Zeonic Army during the One Year War, devoting herself to support her older brother – Ginias Sahalin who wanted to revive the name of the Sahalin family to its peak once more. She stationed on Earth with her brother and during her testing a Zaku High Mobility Type near the Earth’s orbit she fought an Earth Federation’s GM before being intercepted by a Ball unit which eventually destroyed each other, she then escaped and found herself inside a debris of a Magellan-class battleship alongside the Ball’s pilot – Shiro Amada who surprisingly saved her life before they parted ways as she return to Earth while remembering Shiro’s kindness.
– On Earth, her duty was test piloting a brand new Zeon’s mobile armor – the Apsaras II which is supervised by her brother as he wanted to use Aina for his own cause. While Shiro Amada and his MS 08th Team was hunting down the Apsaras II, Aina met him again after both of their mobile suits and mobile armor were destroyed in the middle of the snowy mountains. Both of them secretly fell in love with each other trying to survive the cold weather before returning to their sides. Afterwards at the climaxing moments when the Zeon are evacuating back to space, her brother Ginias who is extremely frustrated by the situation decided to destroy the Zeon’s transporting ship, forcing Aina to stay with him and pilot Apsaras III but then Shiro came to her with his damaged Ez8 Gundam and saved her when Ginias shot her, both of them then agreed to kill Ginias and destroy Apsaras III along with him which eventually ended the conflict. While others thought they were dead, the two chose to quietly live together peacefully deserting their armies, Aina then also got pregnant with Shiro’s unborn child.

II. Skills & Abilities:
– Aina Sahalin is a cheerful, healthy and kind woman who loves her own family. With the status of nobility, she is well-mannered and grew up in a high-class society alongside her brother – Ginias Sahalin who she devoted herself to serve and do as he says in order to revive the great name of the Sahalin family. Although she learned to think differently after she met Shiro Amada, realizing that she did not want to be her brother’s puppet.
– Not only is she good at being kind but Aina is also skillful when it comes to piloting mobile suits. Since she is a noble woman, she would be able to easily join the army through some talk with the generals, Aina is also a test pilot, not only Zaku II but even a large mobile armor – the Apsaras II and III are also her specialty as well.
