Mecha Profile: Shinkalion E6 Komachi – Shinkalion the Animation

The Shinkalion E6 Komachi was one of the original Transforming Shinkansen of the Ultra Evolution Institute, alongside the E5 Hayabusa and the E7 Kagayaki. The E6’s main role is the sharpshooter of the team, piloted by the talented young marksman Akita Oga. While usually delivering precision shot to target enemy’s weakness, the E6 is also capable of overwhelming firepower, strong enough to wipe out Giant Monstrous Beings.

I. History:
 – The E6 Komachi was developed alongside the E5 Hayabusa and E7 Kagayaki. However, the E5 was unusable due to not having a compatible pilot, while the E7 and E6 could deploy with adult drivers. During the first Giant Monstruous Being appearance, the E6 and E7 was deployed to battle.

– Afterwards, Akito Oga was recruited to become the Driver of the Shinkalion E6. And the E6 was regularly deployed to battle alongside the E5 and E7. The E6 usually stays in the back and provide cover fire or artillery support.

– In some occasion, the E5 and the E6 even performed the Link Combination, with the E5 becoming the upper body and the E6 becoming the lower body.

– During big boss battles such as the one against Kairen, Kirin or the fight against Nahane and Ohanefu, the E6 also joins as a combatant. However, it mostly stayed in the back and provide cover fire. During the battle against Kirin, the E6, along with the E7, were the crucial link to help the E5 chase after the Black Shinkalion Orge to finish Kirin once and for all.

II. Technical Specs & Armaments:
– The Shinkalion E6 Komachi was based on the real life Shinkansen E6 series (sometimes called the Super Komachi). In real life as well as in the series, it was developed by the JR East Japan Railway company. The E6 was developed alongside the E5 Hayabusa and E7 Kagayaki. The unit can be piloted by adults and children alike, as long as they have sufficient Compatibility Score. With Akita Oga, the compatibility score is extremely high, making him the ideal Driver for the unit.

– The E6 stands at 25 meters in the anime version, with the 2015 manga version standing at 38. The E6 has its primary color as red and white, similar to the real life Shinkansen. The head of the E6 has 2 horns resembling a Namahage demon, as well as 2 green optical Namahage lenses above the standard yellow eyes, which can deploy over the eyes for sniper mode. The body proportion and overall design is similar to the E5 and E7, with some minor differences such as a set of wheels built into the legs to allow the E6 to glide around much easier than the others. This feature is also present in later versions of the E6. The Shinkalion E6 also weights an impressive 95 tons – which maybe close to the real life specs as well.

– The E6 standard weapons is a pair of Railway Crossing gun – resembling long handguns. The guns are capable of semi-automatic firing, with moderate rate of fire and average damage. For higher firepower, the E6 can mount the Railway Crossing guns onto its shoulders, extending them into cannons with much higher firepower. During this mode, the Namahage lenses can deploy over the eyes for a devastating finisher: the Railway Crossing Cannon.

– In the 2nd half of the show, the E6 was installed with the Link Gattai system, which allows it to combine with the E5 Mark-II as well as the E3 Tsubasa Iron Wing, resulting in a unit with much greater combat performance that is focused on long range.
