Sculpt & painting: Unlike the majority of TSFs, the Shiranui doesn’t incorporate a specific fighter jet into its design, but it still has the overall TSF proportions: big shoulders, slim waist, and streamlined limbs. Shiranui‘s design is a combination of the bulky Gekishin and the elegant Takemikazuchi, inspired by Masami Obari’s style. This figure has a good matte paint. The UN camo color looks really nice.

Articulation & posing: Volks A3’s articulation is pretty good. All of the joints are almost similar to revoltech joints so It can pose very comfortably. However, some joints are quite loose and break easily if not careful. Weapons are pre-attached to the hands and Blade Sheaths so its very convenient and not easy to lose. In order to fully bend the knee back, you’ll need to remove a part at the back of the thigh. The Volks isn’t as dynamic and agile as the Revoltech, but it can still pull off poses from the VN and animes.

Overall: Volks A3 Shiranui is really good TSF figure. If you love the Muv Luv series then why not buy one right away. It is the pride of the Japanese engineering and is a very successful unit in combat. All the more so if you’re a completionist, since Volks boast the most completed line-up of Tactical Surface Fighters and Attackers. You can get pretty much every unit in this line. The size is also quite nice. Currently, the price for the Volks fluctuate between different models based on rarity, but there are many that are really affordable and lower than the original retail price as well, such as this unit.
