Kit review: HG Infinitism – Mazinkaiser

AI YORI AKAKU MOYASE INOCHI NO HONOO WO
KOKUEN NO KANATA NI ASU WO MITSUMETE TEKI WO UTE!!!
Continuing the HG INFINITISM lines with the new Mazinkaiser. Following the release of HG Mazinger infinity, Bandai now brings in the big boy with Mazinkaiser from the OVA Mazinkaiser into the line . Bandai has done an excellent job blending classic Mazinkaiser aesthetics with the Infinitism design philosophy, creating a kit that feels both nostalgic and fresh ( but is it ? )

2. Design
The Infinitism redesign takes Mazinkaiser’s already menacing look and makes it even more aggressive and detailed. The mechanical panel lining, sleek proportions, and exaggerated armor give it a premium feel. The color separation is excellent for an HG, with minimal need for stickers.

Though keep in mind, as the whole kit is not a retool of the great mazinger infinity but they still reuse his thighs and biceps designs. Which it not a big deal but it does make his looks too long cause of the short thighs.

3. Build quality
The plastic quality is solid, and assembly is satisfying, with well-thought-out engineering. However, the sharp edges and some tight joints require careful handling to avoid stress marks or breakage.

4. Articulation
For a super robot kit, Mazinkaiser boasts impressive articulation, making it stand out from traditional Mazinger kits. Here’s what you can expect:
Head & Neck: The head sits on a double ball joint, offering great range of motion. You can achieve some dynamic poses with proper angling.
Arms & Shoulders: The shoulders have swinging joints, and the elbows are double-jointed, allowing for deep bends—perfect for dramatic Kaiser Blade poses. The hands are on ball joints, but due to the gauntlet-like forearms, they have limited movement.
Torso: A ball-jointed waist and ab-crunch mechanism give it decent flexibility, although it’s somewhat restricted due to the bulky design.
Legs: Double-jointed knees but it can only bend a bit more than 90 degrees, excellent ankle tilts, and a hip swing mechanism make leg articulation surprisingly good for such a bulky design.
Wings & Thrusters: The Kaiser Scrander can pivot and rotate slightly, which helps when posing the figure dynamically.
Overall, articulation is average, the joints are there but due to the designs. It cant work as well as the 2 first mazingers of the infinity line.

5. Gimmicks and accessories
Accessories: Packed with Signature Weapons
This kit does not disappoint in the accessories department, coming with everything you’d want from a Mazinkaiser kit:
Kaiser Blades (x2): These massive swords are iconic and come in a beautiful silver finish. You can pose Mazinkaiser dual-wielding or holding a single blade in two hands thanks to its articulation.
Kaiser Scrander: The massive winged backpack is highly detailed and features adjustable wings for various flight poses.
Final Kaiser Blade: This gigantic sword is a centerpiece of the kit, making any pose feel extra dramatic.
Optional Hands: Includes several interchangeable hands for dynamic posing, including fists, open palms, and weapon-holding hands.
Optional Parts: 2 extra crest parts allow for added customization, and 2 effect parts though nothing too extensive.
The accessory count is generous, especially for an HG kit.
