Figure review: Robot Damashii Ghost Gundam

The Ghost Gundam is the repaired form of the EMS-TC02 Phantom Gundam using spare parts for the X1 and X2, which were salvaged from a SNRI supply ship together with the XM-X0 Crossbone Gundam X-0. Anti-beam coating has been applied to the entire body with rare metal discovered from outer space exploration. This beam coating also functions as reactive armor to protect against live ammunition. The Ghost Gundam is capable of using the Phantom Light continuously through several forced cooling cartridges that are mounted like an ammunition belt.

2. Design
Other than a revamp of the Phantom gundam, the silver scheme of this is very rich. Everything is silver with little white to break it with some magenta through out the body ( especially the vents ). Even though the box art shown the bright glittery Phantom light but the real effects are deep purple which went very contract against the silver.
As a Crossbone gundam variants taken place during the Zanscare empire invasion, the similarity of it is very much of the later built Victory 2 gundam ( consider the Wing of light later utilized ).

3. Build quality
Consider the Robot Spirits line are all built in plastic with no diecast ( except for some special cases ). The ghost gundam is well built and easy to handle with no to little looseness are on the figure. Even the transformation is an ease to do and of course the plastic quality of it does not make any kind of “noodle” wobbly mid transformation feel to it. It is a straight forward and easy to do transformation, even though there are some part form and support clips. But it just enhance the “Mirage Bird” mode

4. Articulation
Articulations are good, if you touch any gundam of sort. You know them all, with basic should with armor, side skirt, double jointed knees, arms. But the special parts of this design is the waist, even thought the transformation require the Phantom gundam to split its whole body in half, Bandai manages to successfully integrated a waist swivel into it. Its not a huge articulation but for a transformation mobile suit of this size and this particular robot spirits, this is a lot of effort for something this small.
The shoulders are ball-in sockets ball joints that we can pull out for extra space for articulations, which it feel nice but it easily to get loose overtimes ( which i recommend having yourself any kind of joints strengthened products ). As we talk about ball jointed, the hips are also on a single ball joints. But it does not make the figure any less of articulation, it is fine for what it is ( besides you won’t be able to do much with every on the suits ).

–> Overall: If you’re a fan of the phantom gundam or crossbone gundam in general, i highly recommend picky this up or how ever you so choose. Especially the retails price ( if you happen to find it ) is merely 10,000 yen ( consider what a normal robot spirits cost today ). This figure has what you needs for the mobile suit appear in the manga with little to none missing. This is a full package of the Phantom gundam
